Hello and welcome!
Iām a 30-something wife, mom, and BRCA 1 carrier. Lover of tea, coffee, chocolate and horses. I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma with my husband Bryan and our son Grayson.
I found out I was a BRCA1 carrier in 2015 at the age of 30. Not a stranger to breast cancer, I have a heavy family history and lost my mother to triple negative breast cancer who was also BRCA1 positive in 2011.
Being a young woman who had never been diagnosed with cancer before made me feel like an outsider among the cancer world. I decided to record my entire experience from getting the genetics test, researching surgery options, finding a surgeon, my prophylactic double mastectomy, surveillance and recovery. I want to share, educate and empower other women about my experience who might find themselves in a similar situation or know someone who is going through this.
There is so much noise out there on the internet that it can be overwhelming to research and absorb new things. My goal is that my blog can serve as a starting place for you and a chance to catch your breath.
I hope wherever you are in your journey that you are able to find comfort, humor, grace and know that you are not alone.
